Southampton refuse to take a day off after beating Arsenal

Southampton coach Ronald Koeman and pay per head agents were positively stunned when the team did not want to take a day off after their League cup victory over the Gunners on Tuesday.
Koeman’s tenure at the club had a very solid start, as in the Premier League he was able to lead the team up to second place with 10 points from the five games that they played.
There were many fans and pundits who thought that this season Southampton would have a difficult struggle after many of their most important players ended up leaving the squad, but in the season’s early weeks, they were able to prove all who doubted them wrong, and many in the football world were delighted to see what they were able to accomplish so far.
Southampton’s great form on the pitch could be clearly seen when they took on Arsenal, beating them 2-1, and on Thursday, the Dutchman said that his side were not willing to take a break on Wednesday – something that impressed not only the manager, but many fans as well.
“We planned for Wednesday to be a day off after the Tuesday, but Jose Fonte said to me: ‘Boss, we’d like to come and train tomorrow’,” said the coach.
“I said: ‘But you have a day off – I’ve planned a lot of things with my wife!’ So we changed it, and we had a recovery session.
“The players showed a great ambition. I’ve never had a squad say no to a day off. That means a lot for me.
“We’ve spoken to each other and said that if they win against Queens Park Rangers [on Saturday] then they’ll get that day off next week, so we hope to win on Saturday.”
Southampton’s fans believe that their team could very well be on the rise, and were taken aback when they saw their performance when they beat the Gunners. Pay per head agents hope to see them continue their great run of form, and believe that Koeman is definitely the one to lead the team.
