Jack Wilshere won’t be able to feature for the Gunners for approximately three months after the midfielder underwent surgery, and now internet bookmakers would like to see how the team will manage without the player’s services.
The player was taken off during the second half of the team’s 2-1 loss at home to Manchester United on Saturday, as he suffered an ankle injury in a challenge that he had with Paddy McNair.
The player was then sent to a surgeon to be evaluated and now had an operation on his ankle.
A statement by the Gunners read: “Jack Wilshere has had successful surgery on his left ankle and will be out for approximately three months.
“An assessment with a specialist confirmed the need for an operation and the 22-year-old had successful surgery to his ankle in London on Thursday afternoon.
“Jack will now commence his injury rehabilitation programme with the Arsenal medical team.
“Everyone at the club wishes Jack a speedy recovery and looks forward to seeing him back on the pitch as soon as possible.”
After the operation, Wilshere posted a picture on Instagram, saying: “Ankle needed surgery in the end, it went well thanks to the main man James Calder!
“Work hard for what you want, because it won’t come to you without a fight.
“You have to be strong and courageous and know that you can do anything you put your mind to. If somebody puts you down or criticizes you, just keep on believing in yourself and turn it into something positive.”
The player did not have good luck at all when it came injuries, as he ended up missing the campaign of 2011-2012 after having suffered on his right ankle a stress fracture, and over the past two seasons the player also missed time.
Now the player could be out of the game until early in March, and this gives t Arsene Wenger more problems still, as the manager is dealing with a rising injury list.
Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Debuchy will be out of the game for some time, and internet bookmakers know that there are worries surrounding Danny Welbeck, Mikel Arteta, and Wojciech Szczesny, goalkeeper
Szczesny suffered an injury to his hip when he took on United, Arteta was taken off during the team’s 2-0 Champions League victory on Wednesday at home in a game with Borussia Dortmund because of an injury to the calf, and Welbeck ended up missing that game because of hamstring tightness.
Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud are again fit for action after the players had lay-offs due to injuries, and a groin problem set back the return of Theo Walcott from an injury to the knee.
