Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said that Jack Wilshere won’t be able to feature for the Gunners for “a while” after the player suffered on Saturday an injury to the knee, and now the team’s fans and online bookmaker services seriously hope that it isn’t too serious.
Many fans saw that throughout his career in the sport, Wilshere was ridden with ankle problems, and the player suffered a fresh injury during the weekend after he was right in the middle of tough challenge that took place between Paddy McNair and Marouane Fellaini when they were defeated by Manchester United 2-1.
Before the Gunners’ UEFA Champions League meeting with Borussia Dortmund, Wenger didn’t say exactly say for how long the player would be out of the game.
“I can’t give you any timescale there,” said the Frenchman. “He’ll be out for a while.
“He has to see a specialist next week to see how long.”
The manager also said that Theo Walcott will have no choice but to miss the match with Dortmund because of an injury to the groin, as keeper Wojciech Szczesny will also be missing from action after he suffered an injured hip during the build-up to the first goal scored by United.
But defender Laurent Koscielny returned to the squad after he had a problem with his Achilles, and the manager feels positive before the game taking place at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
“It’s an important game for us and we have a good dynamic in the team which gives us a good chance against Dortmund,” said the coach.
“I see similarities between Arsenal and Dortmund. They have had many injuries at the start of the season too.
“I believe in what I do and I believe in my players, their quality and their spirit.”
In order for the Gunners to make it to last 16, they will need to clinch a point when they take on Dortmund, who are at the top of Group D, and many fans out there hope that Wilshere’s absence won’t seriously set back the team in their bid to accomplish this feat.
The Gunners’ fans and online bookmakers can see that the injuries are not good news at all to the team, but many are confident that the players make quick recoveries. Now, there are also many fans who are very concerned about Wilshere, and would like to see just serious his injury is.
