Zinedine Zidane and bookmakersinc agents would really like to see Karim Benzema start to score for Real Madrid.
Fans of the 26-year-old striker were not very happy at all when they saw that the player was struggling as last season was coming to an end, and they’re concerned with his form, as so far in this campaign he was only able to score one time, with the Spanish giants losing two of their first three matches in La Liga.
Both the France international and Iker Casillas – Real’s captain – were whistled and booed when the team lost their meeting with Atletico Madrid on Saturday 2-1.
Zidane, who is serving as the coach of the Spanish side’s reserve team, said that the player knew that he needed to score, and many fans seriously hope to see him hit the back of the net as soon as possible.
“He’s the main striker at Real Madrid but he has not scored recently. The critics will always be there,” Zidane said.
“He must score with Madrid and with France and he is aware of that. He knows the kind of player he is and he knows what is expected of him.
“Last year I was closer to him but now a little less so because I’m busy with Castilla [the reserves]. In the next game he will score and we will move on to something else.”
During the pre-season, Zidane – who price per head agents know is a real legend in the sport – was linked with a coaching role at Bordeaux before the move wasn’t completed, to the disappointment many fans.
The former player still said that he was looking to coach in the sport’s highest levels, and many experts believe that he has everything he needs to succeed.
“I want to continue with Castilla this year and then we’ll see,” Zidane said.
“I have ambition and I have an objective to take charge of a team in the top division. To look after a group like this is hard work.”
