Bookmakers: Ronaldo does not want to leave Real

imagesCristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid star, reiterated his wish to continue playing in La Liga, and many bookmakers were delighted with the news.

Bookmakers UK services saw that this summer, the Portuguese player’s future with Real Madrid was the subject of speculation as he recently admitted that he missed English football.

Manchester United was linked with making a move to bring the 28-year-old back to Old Trafford after they sold him to Real in 2009, and many bookmakers were wondering what would be next for the player.

But Ronaldo insists that he does not plan to leave Real and is happy to continue with the club, and this proved to be a relief to many fans and bookmakers.

“I enjoy of course to play there [Real Madrid], I play there for four years so I want to continue there,” Ronaldo told Sky Sports News.

“It is not the best day to speak about my future. I am going to have time to speak about that at the beginning of pre-season.”

Bookmakers know that Real previously tried to curb the rumours on Ronaldo’s future by announcing many times that they plan to agree on a new contract – with the player having two years left on his current deal.

And bookmakers UK learned that Carlo Ancelotti, new coach, made it clear that the player is central to his plans with the Real.

The Italian boss said: “My opinion is easy. Ronaldo’s a fantastic, marvellous player.

“It’s an honour to coach a player like Ronaldo like it was to coach Zidane.

“Ronaldo was not on the list of players like Brazilian Ronaldo, Zidane and Ronaldinho that I coached.

“He will be on the list of players I coached now and I am so happy for that.”

Last month, Florentino Perez, Real president, stressed his confidence that Ronaldo will sign a new deal.

He told 20minutos: “He’s our most important asset, and we will build the future of Madrid around him.

Do you have players? We can handle them for you.

“Soon we will clarify this issue. I have no doubt that Cristiano is going to retire at Real Madrid. I’m convinced that he’ll renew. The renewals are done before the season starts.”
